Accessibility
Effective October 2, 2026
We want everyone to be able to use Elthos, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, larger text, or higher contrast. This page says what we have checked, what is not yet good enough, and how to tell us about a problem.
The standard we aim for
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on the web, and for Apple's accessibility guidelines in the iPhone and Mac apps. Elthos partially meets this: some parts do not yet, as listed below.
What we have checked
- Every form field and every button, including buttons that show only an icon, has a name that a screen reader reads aloud, on the web and in the iPhone and Mac apps.
- Text and buttons meet the WCAG AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 in both light and dark mode on the web.
- Every control can be reached with the keyboard and shows where the keyboard focus is.
- Equations are given to screen readers as MathML, so they are read as math rather than as symbols.
- Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
- On iPhone, text grows with the iOS text-size setting; the main screens were checked at the largest supported size for text that is cut off.
- The page language is set, so screen readers use the right voice.
These checks were made by reviewing the code and with automated tests. They have not yet been confirmed by people who use assistive technology every day, and we would welcome help with that.
Known problems
- Text size on iPhone. The iPhone app follows the text size you set in iOS Settings, up to about twice the default; at the very largest accessibility sizes, text stops growing there so screens stay usable. If you change the size while Elthos is open, some text updates only after you reopen that screen.
- Transcripts and AI notes. Transcripts, summaries and notes are written by software and can contain mistakes, including wrong names, numbers or speakers.
- Files you add. Documents, slides and images that people add to Elthos may not be accessible themselves; Elthos reads their text where it can.
- Recordings. Audio has no captions other than the transcript.
Tell us about a problem
If something in Elthos is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us what you were trying to do and what device and assistive technology you use. We will reply and, where we can, help you do it another way while we fix it.
The operator's contact details have not been published yet.
